The other day, a friend of mine, who is my beautician, noticed a significant change my hair since I had taken the Lamisil for toenail fungus in the past.  (I had taken it the Lamisil for three months, it had cleared up according to my podiatrist. 2 months later it came back with a vengeance!)

I told her that I actually needed to start taking it again because the fungus had come back.
She said that she had a remedy for me that a married couple had told her about. She had mentioned this remedy to her own mother, and another customer of hers. They had both tried it and it worked for them with amazing results.

I don't know how safe it is...... but this couple started putting diluted swimming pool algaecide on their toes and this worked for them, as it did for the others that my friend had mentioned it to!

Please write me back and let me know what you think. I'm interested in curing this without the medicinal risks that I took before.

I'm currently trying Kedem Sepphorris. It's an over-the-counter herbal extract imported from Israel. I just started two weeks ago. I'll get back to you in three months and let you know whether or not it's working. (Do a Google search and you'll only find a few distributors)

Hi,
______________________________________________________________

First of all, I just want to thank you for your website - it was extremely helpful.  I had an embarrassing big toe nail that is finally improving after having it for about a year and a half. My aunt gave me the name of this prescription cream that her doctor prescribed and worked for her. I asked my doctor for a prescription and began using it and within two weeks I saw remarkable improvements. It is Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream, USP.

I should tell you what I have tried in the past. First, the cornmeal solution and that worked slowly but I found it cumbersome to soak my toes or feet  I tried soaking in Listerine, too, but it seemed to only turn my feet blue/green. Also, I took Diflucan for 6 weeks but then was concerned that it wasn't healthy for my liver but I did see some improvement. It wasn't until I started applying this cream twice a day that I noticed the most improvement. It cost $8 for a tube of 60 grams.

Hope you can suggest it on your website as I think many people who have suffered as I have will benefit.

Thank you,
--Laura

Here is a remedy you can add to your list. I read this on the internet probably 5 years ago. I can't find it now. The web site said to take a magnifying glass and concentrate the sun on the bad nail for 30 seconds a day. He said he didn't know if it was the heat or the ultraviolet light that killed the fungus. I don't remember how many days you were supposed to do this. I thought it was interesting.
I am currently using the Vicks on two bad fingernails. My husband's aunt swears up and down it worked for her on fingernail so we shall see.

I met a family practice doctor who swears by Tilex for fungal nails! He has used it on himself with apparently good results.

Hi George,

I loved your information on toenail fungus. I recently moved to Florida, where toenail fungus is rampant (I am told!). I 've never had it before, in spite of thousands of visits for pedicures and manicures and lots of time in locker rooms and swimming pools.

I believe I got it because the pedicure I got at one place may not have been in a place where proper hygeinic policies are followed--who knows. In any case, I did try vinegar with no results, and then got a bottle of Jason's Tea Tree "Nail Saver", which worked wonders. It has primrose oil, sesame oil, tea tree oil in it and the combination is excellent.

In my case, I also had some swelling around the nail bed, which was disturbing, but the tea tree oil seemed to help that as well. As for oil of oregano, I can tell you that I tried it for prevention of colds, but got sick from the two drops, and smelled like a pizza the rest of the day. Thanks for the heads up on this cure, and I will use this as well.

Again, l thanks for your informative and humerous site.

Best regards,

Libby

George,

Thank you for your web page.  I have had toenail fungus for many years and would love to be rid of it.  Six years ago, I went to a dermatologist, who prescribed Lamisil tablets.  I took them diligently once a day for three months.  The fungus definitely was affected, and my nails began to grow out clean and healthy.  But they didn't get all the way out.  At about 9 months, the yellow area stopped advancing, and since that time the fungus has grown back to the point that my nails are disfigured and painful again.

Last year, a friend recommended neem oil for fungus control on our roses.  Doing research on it, I found several references to its use in controlling nail fungus.  One said to apply it twice a day for six months.  Not wanting to stain my sheets, I have been applying it liberally every morning (but not evening) for six months.  I bought it in the garden center at Lowe's.

The neem oil has shown improvement, but the infected area has now stalled, and I will now switch to tea tree oil or vinegar.

Thank you for all this information.  I wish I'd had it years ago.

Ted

I have read a lot of remedies, but one helped me in a month. It called
Black salve and I have bought it from  <http://www.relievingpain.com/blacksalve.htm>  and very glad that it help me.

Hi,

I have been using a product called NoxyX, which works, and would surely
work a lot better if used it twice a day as recommended, rather than
only after my shower like I do. It takes time, and I have never been
diligent enough to use it twice a day, but my nails are "almost
healthy", and look passable.

I don't have the address with me, and just came across your web site
when trying to find if they have a site to order online. It is a mild
acid gel, $29 a bottle through a geriatric catalogue.

George - thank you for your information. I have copied and emailed it to several people that I know. You asked for any other information - well, the attached article suggests Betadine - thought you might want to see it.
My son is home schooled - age 17, a senior - took a speed reading course. I'm going to check out the website on speed reading to see if any additional help is available.
Thanks again.

Dear George,
I have gotten rid of toenail fungus twice, each time years apart, using the same remedy. ProClears Brush-on Antifungal Liquid available in drug stores for 7 to 9 dollars without a prescription. It is VERY easy to use. It brushes on like nail polish but is colorless. It does not change the color of the nail. I found this out by accident. I didn't read the fine print which says, "WARNING this product not effective on scalp or nails."
The active ingredient is Tolnaftate 1%. Other "inactive" ingredients are Acetone (nail polish remover), Aloe Vera Gel, Propylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), and Purified Water.
I simply kept on using it topically, twice a day after washing, over and under the nail and across the cuticle until the infected nail dropped off and continued applying it until the nail had grown back in fully.
Hope this helps.

Hello,

I came across your website sometime back.

I had fungus in my two toenails for about 12 years. I
had the course of Lamisil a few years back to no
avail. My Doctor recommended not to do another round
because of the potential serios side effects.

My husband ended up getting fungus in one of his
toenail while accidentally using my nail clipper.
Anyways, his general practicioner recommended Penlac
Nail Lacquer via presciption. He used it for about 2-3
months and his toenail completely recovered. He
suggested for me to use the reminder of his Penlac
nail lacquer as he was done and no longer needed it. I
did and almost immediately within days started to
notice a change in the definition color of the fungus
from being totally a white toenail to tiny little
spots of healthier more normal color. Both of my
toenails are almost completely cleared and HEALTHY
(Like nothing ever happened!). I went to my Doctor and
got a prescription for a refill and I am waiting for
the nail to finish its course of growth. The Nail
Lacquer (Penlac) only cost me $35. I dont know how
much the insurance paid.

I hope that people consider this as a remedy as I know
that it worked on my husband and I -- for sure!

Thanks for your website it gives people hope!

sincerely,

Tanah :)

Happened on your site today and noticed you did not have Udder Balm listed....This has been effective for me. It is used for Cows utters and can be purchased at drug stores and feed stores also. Some stores call it Bag Balm. You just put it on and wear sox, as it is very greasy....but works....Hope this is helpful and thank you for your other ideas...

Note: Bag Balm and Udder Balm are different products.
I don't know which of the two Joy is referring to,
or if both are equally effective.  --George Stancliffe

Hey.
I am a 20 year old female.  I have had "toenail fungus" for as long as I can remember, though I believe it didn't begin until i was about 11 years old or so.  It started out just being on my little toe on my left foot, and has gradually progressed to all but one toe on that foot.  It has not appeared to have affected my right foot at all.  I am writing for two different reasons.
My current treatment that I am using; this one was suggested to one of my friends by her doctor as an alternative to the liver-damaging tablets.  Her doctor told her that it is only to be used on less severe cases...not for use on extreme cases or cases where the skin is broken or damaged.  Anyways, what she was told to do was to apply Monostat (yeast infection cream) to the toenails in a thick coat every night, and cover them with Band-Aids to keep it on all night.  In the morning, remove the Band-Aids, clean the toes, and apply a few drops of vinegar.  My friend has been doing it for a few months, and it seems to be working well.  I just started this treatment a few weeks ago.  So far, the only side effects  I am noticing are slight itching after the vinegar application, and a strange shortage on Band-Aids :)  With this treatment people need to be sure to consult a doctor on which type of Monostat to use (some doctors may tell you not to at all) and it should not be used if the person has ever had an allergic
